On Tuesday evening, Year 5 parents were treated to an extraordinary series of presentations from their children. From an atmospheric start with eerie lighting, we were led into a series of dream stories, inspired by Aboriginal tradition, written, narrated and acted with enormous sensitivity by the children.
This was followed by an Aborigine-inspired composition, played on didgeridoos, before slightly anxious parents realised they had found themselves on the set of 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here', compared by S. Anselm's answer to Ant and Dec.
Hats off to the parents whose names were called to join the intrepid duo on the stage and answer questions to decide their fate ... either return rapidly to their seats or eat live bush tucker! Just when we thought we could bear it no longer, Mr Wood was called onto the stage and invited to eat something particularly long (and slimy).
From Australian culture to cabaret, the evening then turned to musical acts created by the children: 'Friendship through the ages' (from My Little Pony), a Boogie Storm group medley, then two duets, 'Walking in the Air' and 'Say you won't let go'.
The entertainment ended with a heartfelt rendition by the whole of Year 5 of 'I've had the time of my life'.
Thank you to Mrs Corner and Mr Robinson for making it all possible.
