Ancient Egyptian Afternoon in Transition

Ancient Egyptian Afternoon in Transition

Once again, the Transition children (and their teachers!) enjoyed a fabulous afternoon journeying back in time to Ancient Egypt. Not only did they dress up as little pharaohs, but they also solved some hieroglyphics and tackled rather tricky Egyptian maths. Cartouches were expertly made with each pharaoh's name inscribed in the middle. We also spent time making Egyptian flat bread from flour, salt and water.

Whilst the bread was baking, the little Egyptians all took part in a brain taxing game called 'Senet', which proved to be lots of fun!
Finally, a sumptuous banquet concluded our afternoon where the pupils sampled typical food that would have been consumed all those years ago.
