U12 girls win top spot at the Worksop College Athletics Championships.
On Wednesday 12th May Mrs Northcott and Mr Callun took the Under 12 boys and girls and U14 boys and girls to Worksop College for their first athletics meet of the summer term. Despite the weather, the event was not only superbly run by Worksop College but we were able to witness outstanding performances from our super athletes. The athletics meet was against Ranby House, Witham Hall and St. Hugh’s. The highlights of the afternoon were the U12 performances from Georgina H gaining 1st place in 100m, Long Jump ( gaining 3m 96), she also gained 2nd place in the 800m. Arabella H also won 100m, 200m, Clare T won the B final for the tennis ball throw, Jessica R-S gained 2nd place in the 300m with a fantastic time of 60.35 secs and Georgia R gained 3rd position in the B 300m final with a time of 60.48 secs. The grande finale was the U12 supergirls gaining 1st position in the 4 x 100m relay, once again a fine final leg from Georgina H to finish 1st past the finish line.

3rd position Witham Hall
4th position St Hugh’s. Well done girls.

Seth A gained 2nd position in the 800m with an excellent time of 2 min 34, 1st position in the 400m B final with 68.90secs. Paddy D had a super run gaining second position in the 400m A final, Rufus L gained 1st position in the 800m B final with a time of 2 mins 40secs. James B won the cricket ball throw with an outstanding throw of 44m 92 and Freddie R –S gained second position in the B final cricket ball throw. Will S had a great day on the Long Jump winning both finals with an enormous jump of 4metres 05, Alex Woolhouse gained 2 second place positions in the High jump 1m 20 and 200m B final. Nancy J also had an impressive day starring in the 800m (3rd), 300m (2nd) and Tennis ball throw B final ( 1st place), Nancy S gained a 2nd place in the 300m, Georgina H gained 2nd position in tennis ball throw (30m18) narrowly missing out from the gold medal position. Charlotte P gained an impressive high jump performance gaining 1m 20 finishing in 2nd place.
Overall the S. Anselm’s team performed brilliantly both on and off the track with individual effort and support for fellow team mates in between events – Congratulations to all athletes. A special mention must go to Angus E, Ludo L, Georgia R, Clare T, Georgina T who were all young for their age group and performed with confidence and determination. Well done to all! MPN
