Well, the first week of term got off to a rip-roaring start for the boarding community at S. Anselm's.
Corridors that have been silent for weeks have been filled with chit chat and laughter as the boys and girls have launched themselves into their lessons, sport and activities with gusto! Their feet have hardly touched the ground…..
The new Foster building and the sports hall have been the biggest hit with all year groups taking advantage of the five-a-side, free swims in the evening and the table football, pool table and Sky TV above. The weather has held off, so the boys have been able to throw themselves at some tackle bags and sharpen up some ball skills. The girls have been waving their sticks in preparation for their matches next week too. Lessons have begun in earnest and the boarders have been making the most of prep time and seem pretty pleased to be getting those brain cells working after they lay dormant over the summer. The food has also got the big thumbs up (especially the carrot cake) and John's birthday was celebrated when the Year 3 and Year 2 boarders ate not one but two cakes at the Mace's earlier in the week. Needless to say there were only a few crumbs left at the end!
All in all this has been a smashing week for the boarders and everybody is very excited to be seeing all their friends again. Bowling this Sunday, Carsington Water next Sunday and a whole lot more in between!Â
