Boarders' Sunday 18/01/09

Artist or jock, thespian or outward bounder - there was something for everybody this weekend. An impressive array of seven different activities meant that all the boys and girls could choose just what took their fancy in order to while away the afternoon. But before all that there was a very exciting morning to get through. First up was a gigantic full English breakfast which the children gobbled up with great voracity! The morning service saw the children belting out a variety of hymns - "Jubilate, ev'rybody" certainly woke everybody up and dusted the Sunday morning cobwebs away!" Similarily, Mr Mc Kell of Mount Saint Mary's school delivered a sideways view of the David and Goliath story revelling in the blood and guts of the whole affair as well as anything else!

Soon after this, a fabulous Sunday lunch of local, organic meat and veg was polished off and the girls and boys got stuck into their activities. On site, there was a festival of sport with Five-a-Side, Dodge Ball and Cornish Long Ball in the Sports Hall and hours of fun in the pool splashing about, having mock sea battles and diving for bricks.

Tee-shirts were designed by some of the girls as well to indulge their creative side and not least to chat to Mrs Bhamra about, life, the world and everything. But for some this was just too tame and a bunch went off with Mr Northcott into the Madagascan rainforest in Chesterfield - or at least a cartoon version of the real thing! Others broke out with Mr Donaldson and played a fast and furious game of 40:40 out on the fabulous Peaks that were bathed in gorgeous winter sun. Needless to say that Mr Donaldson deserved his evening off after two hours of chasing and catching! Mr Mace took a group to Chesterfield to go bowling. Will S was crowned the champ and achieved the best score of 122 winning an extra go on the pin-ball machine at the end!

Little Walter also knocked a few balls down thanks to the help of his rather large minders, Rob H and Sam W!

Basically, this was another cracking Sunday with lots of fun and activity and, as ever, much laughter. Ice skating, rock climbing  and much more awaits once we get this coming exeat out of the way!
