On Friday we took the Junior boarders off site for a fabulous time at Felicini's where they indulged in some enormous pizzas and delicious pasta. This was followed by ice-cream all round. It is fantastic to see everyone getting on so well and thriving.

Then the weekend got off to a cracking start with the football and hockey House matches which were obviously furiously contested. There were also some highly competitive netball matches.

Straight after, the Year 7 boys were whipped down to the chippy that evening to get them off site and to celebrate their great success on the pitches that afternoon. They quietly slipped back up to the Sky TV room and crashed out on the sofas whilst munching their chips! Soon after everyone had a fabulous Saturday night treat and watched videos as varied as the Break Up and Bolt. But before they knew it, everyone was in bed and enjoying a luxurious lie-in until 8.30am the next morning when they jumped out of their beds and raced down to breakfast before embarking on the day. The Headmaster of Wrekin gave a very heart-felt sermon giving us all lessons from the African bush and urging us to support his hugely important charity.

(note little and large!)
Then the afternoon excitements began. The younger boys went off to Cine World at Chesterfield to watch Gulliver's Travels in 3D. Tom B was a great chaperone for little Walter and they all behaved impecably.

The girls raced off to go ice-skating with Mrs Seddon and Mrs Price and this was a roaring success too.

Despite horrible January driving rain the Dads and Lads and Mothers and Daughters matches went ahead.
Conditions were soft under foot which afforded the boys an advantage as they made less impact on the ground and their turning circles were narrower! The rather competitive Dads and Staff got off to a good start and were 6-1 up before being pegged back by a determined boys side.

The Mothers were always on the back foot as the girls took an early lead, and indeed the girls' goalkeeper was distinctly bored for much of the game. The final score was 6-1 to the girls but there was some feisty battling play from the mothers in the middle third of the pitch. Mr Hill won everyone’s admiration when at half time he came onto the pitch to give the mothers his own version of magic juice which certainly revved everyone up.

Well done to everyone: good competitive games and no major injuries (although I suspect some stiff bodies tomorrow morning)!
Late that night the boys and girls fell into their beds dreaming of wildly dressed Liliputian mothers dancing on ice and much more! The children have again been a great pleasure to look after and have thrown themselves into every activity with great gusto! Well done everybody and thanks to the host of people who made it all possible.
