Boarders' Weekend 15th and 16th November

Boarders' Weekend 15th and 16th November

This weekend, the girls and boys managed to quickly shrug off any thoughts about next weeks' exams and didn't let them get in the way of having a jolly good time!

Mr and Mrs Berry came in to say hello and meet some parents before they take up posts next term and Mr Morse welcomed Tim Day from Rugby School who gave a humorous portrayal of the first Olympic Games which sounded - truly amateur. Soon after this the boys and girls got stuck into some games of their own.

Mr and Mrs Weller kindly took some boarders to the cinema at Chesterfield as they had missed the James Bond excursion last week because they had choral duties. Mr Weller piled sweets and pop corn into them in a desperate attempt to smash the Northcotts' record of masses of pre cinema tuck! He thinks he may well have reached new levels of indulgence!

Jon Watt's activities required a little more exertion as he took a group to the "Foundry" to climb in a massive indoor activity centre. The boys came back beaming and telling stories of hanging on one hand tens of feet up! The Sleive Mor girls got to strut their stuff in ways never contemplated before as well: the Morses laid on a bin bag competition to see who was the best fashion designer. Despite the materials, we can't say they looked rubbish and as the dust settled no one was down in the dumps! It was a very close run thing to decide who the winner would be.

Mrs Price, the Maces and the Berrys, took a group of junior boys and girls to Chatsworth and let them wallow in the mud before getting stuck into a fast and furious game of rounders . Everyone was most impressed by Mrs Prices' ankles as she rolled up her trousers and got very competitive. You could tell who the cricketers were and Lucy and Freddie were even more competitive than Mrs Price! We then wandered around the Christmas fair and some of the lads tucked into some Turkish Delight before everyone raced back to the Mace's for well earned hot chocolates!

In addition......there was also some five-a-side in the gym, some revision sessions and some arty and crafty work. This was all overseen by the fabulous team back on site. Everybody got a little bit of what they deserved before we crack into exam week tomorrow. I think that the batteries have been well charged in readiness and I anticipate all A grades for the boarders!
