Boarders' Weekend 26/27th February

Boarders' Weekend 26/27th February

This has been a whirlwind of a weekend and the girls and boys have managed to do a great deal. On Friday night a group of Year 6,7 and 8 lads went off to watch Sale v Leicester in what was a thrilling encounter and others  went off to watch Little Shop of Horrors on stage on Saturday night. The usual Saturday night treat was also enjoyed by those left behind and provided the rest everyone needed after what had been a fun and very busy week......

Sunday was fabulous and we were lucky enough to host Sarah Angus (a Housemistress at Malvern College) who is to become their Pastoral Deputy Head. She spoke about the need to control our fear and take risks in order to be sure that we take on all of life's challenges.

Soon after this we did as she told us and set off on a glorious walk through Derbyshire's finest countryside. We crocodiled through Bakewell up to the Old Station, where we stopped for a brief time to have our sandwiches, and then rambled down the Monsal Trail past Thornbridge Hall and then back through Ashford-in-the- Water. It was clear that S.Anselm's pupils, parents and staff are made tough as we endured some rain and a great deal of mud. Nevertheless, we all had a great time and it was a lovely and very social occassion. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

We returned back to base tired but elated. After a pause to rest and recuperate the children wrote some letters home and the Year 8 pupils had a chance to do some serious revision. The rugby VII's team returned having performed well at their tournament at Malsis Preparatory. Then a grand and well deserved supper was wolfed down and an early night was had by all.

Thanks to all those who ensured the walk went so well and thanks to all those who sponsored us. If you have any money to send in do send it to Richard Mace at S. Anselm's School and make out any cheques to Help the Heroes. Many thanks.  I will collate the money and let everyone know how much we raised before sending it off to this fabulous charity. The child who raises the most will be getting a chocolate prize!

We have trial boarders in next weekend and rest assured the Year 8 pupils will have plenty of time to revise for their mocks.  Well done to everyone!
