What a cracking weekend we have just had!

On Friday night we had some great parlour games in School House - German Torchlight being a favourite - then Saturday was action packed from beginning to end. The House matches were wonderful and everyone got to play and got stuck in.

The Christmas Fair was a big hit and it was great to see all the pupils choosing to spend their precious cash so carefully. Then the bonfire, fireworks and campfire singing were great fun and ensured that the whole school community came together to celebrate this special time of year. After this it was Saturday night treat with cookies and a film after which the troops went wearily but happily to bed.
Sunday morning we woke up to a glorious Full English breakfast then wrote some letters. After a hilarious but thoughtful sermon by Mr Allen of Uppingham on the importance of enjoying everyone's differences, the kids had lots of free time to clamber around on the climbing frame, play touch rugby and just relax in each others' company.

A roast lunch was followed by some fab activities. A large group went off to Sheffield to watch Despicable Me in 3D (yes we did all get glasses!) and many others went cycling and started their Bikeability tests. The more conscientious Year 8 pupils did an hour and a half revision for their imminent exams but still found time to play 40:40 until dusk. Mr Weller took the choir to perform at Lady Manners school where they wowed the audience and sang extra-ordinarily well.
No wonder that when the boys and girls crashed into bed they went quickly to sleep - tired but happy in the knowledge that they had done so much this weekend that was magical! Well done to everyone involved and thanks to all the staff who made it happen.
