Burns Night Party

Burns Night Party

Burns night proved to be a great hit with the 5th Year. Everyone made a superb effort to wear a bit of tartan - however small - and all entered into the spirit of the occasion.

Mr Mace gave a short introduction to the life of Burns and then after the Selkirk Grace, he addressed the Haggis, and stabbed it as is customary.

It was great to see everyone having some haggis 'neeps and tatties, although when we told them what Haggis actually was they struggled a bit more!

As there was a fair bit of Haggis left over we played a forfeit game - loosers ate haggis! It was amazing how they started to concentrate!

Finally after a great supper (normality returned with ice cream etc) we cleared the decks for some Scottish country dancing. Mr Northcott led the way and instructed everyone through the Dashing White Sergeant. By the end of it everyone was exhausted and had enjoyed themselves hugely. A great evening.
