Chinese New Year at Hillcrest

Chinese New Year at Hillcrest

The Hillcrest girls carried on the Chinese New Year celebrations when they returned home last night. After a quick shower we all gathered in the lounge and started to make Chinese laterns which were richly decorated by all. Once we had all seen our laterns lit we gathered round to talk about the Chinese New Year. Each girl had found an interesting fact about China: we learnt that Budda had been visited by twelve animals, ice cream was invented in China and the tooth fairy doesn't visit amongst many other things. We were then treated to a tasting session, courtesy of Chloe, using our own chopsticks. We tried seaweed, a selection of dim sum and egg fried rice which went down a treat. After a quick quiz to identify the Chinese symbol for rabbit, it was off to bed for some very happy little girls.
