In the Pre-Prep, we place a huge importance on the children’s creative development. The timetable offers a rich provision of subjects which nurture and feed their imaginations and creativity.
All classes have a weekly lesson of Art and Design, another of Design and Technology, as well as a Music and Drama.
Children are encouraged to try new activities, use a range techniques and materials, and learn new processes. They are exposed to a plethora of art, from the unmistakeable to the more obscure, so that they may foster an excitement and curiosity towards the art of other cultures and that of famous artists.
Enjoyment is paramount! The children are helped to value their achievements, appreciate the work of other’s and strive for personal success.
At this stage in their education, the art and design stems from the familiar, their surroundings and experiences. The provision of art, craft and design activities relate to their own identity, the natural and made objects around them and the locality in which they live.
By Year 2, the children are building on a firm foundation of skills and practice, which will help them begin to explore the diversity of art and design in the wider world.
