Early Years Curriculum
In the Nursery we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum which is specially designed for children aged 0-5. It ensures that each child is learning through high quality play based activities. It enables the children to develop at their own pace, to have fun, make friends and learn as they play. In this way the children will become confident, inquisitive learners who, when the time comes, are well prepared for school.
Importantly the child is at the centre of the Early Years Foundation Stage. We will work with you and your child, picking up on their interests and abilities and build on them through carefully structured activities. Play is vital for children, it is through play young children learn, grow and have fun; it helps them understand the world and develop socially and emotionally.
The children will access this curriculum through 6 equally important curriculum areas:
PERSONAL, SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT (PSED)
COMMUNICATION, LANGUAGE AND LITERACY (CLL)
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORLD (K&U)
PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT (PHYS)
CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT (CR)
PROBLEM SOVING, REASONING AND NUMERACY (PSRN)
The Nursery is spacious and well equipped, it has a large outdoor area and the staff and children take full advantage of the beautiful grounds of the school as a learning resource.
