Exploring Culture visits Tissington Hall

On Tuesday 9th November the ‘Exploring Culture’ extra were given a personal guided tour of Tissington Hall by Sir Richard FitzHerbert. The FitzHerbert family has owned the Hall and estate since the 15th Century so it was fascinating to visit a home so steeped in history. We were shown the Main Hall with its wonderful and welcome fireplace, the Library which holds over 3000 books, the Dining Room with its wood panelling and portraits, the stairway and the East Drawing Room, home to an intriguing wooden chest containing many secret drawers. Our thanks to Sir Richard for giving us the opportunity to visit Tissington Hall – we shall have to ask to go again in the summer and wander through the glorious gardens. SRT
