Q. Why do children from the age of seven have to come to school on a Saturday? A. We are a preparatory school, preparing children for life in an independent senior school where weekends are an integral part of the school week. Q. Do the children have lessons all day on Saturday? A. The children have a short morning of lessons up to 12.15, followed by a popular afternoon of games and matches. Q. Does this apply on every Saturday of term? A. No, on every third Saturday of term pupils are at home for an Exeat weekend, which usually runs from Thursday evening till Sunday evening. Q. How often can boarding parents see their children? A. Parents are welcome to watch sport (even when a child is not representing a school team) on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. Parents are very welcome to attend our Sunday Services 10.30am and stay on to see their children until 12.45pm. Q. When do children start Boarding? A. Children can board at any age from 7½ onwards and can start at any term. Day children often convert to boarding at 8½, 9½ and 10½. Q. Can children have mobile phones / do they have access to a telephone and e-mail? A. Children are not allowed mobile phones but they do have free access to a telephone (using a chargecard). They have unlimited access to using the IT room for e-mailing out of school teaching time. Q. How do we meet other parents? A. S. Anselm's is a very sociable school. Parents in every year group are invited to a dinner, held in a local restuarant, where they are encouraged to get to know parents with children of a similar age. Throughout the year a variety of events take place, including Bonfire Night, a Summer Garden Party and the School Ball.
