With such a packed timetable our pupils need the right fuel to help them give their best throughout the day.
Michelle Northcott, the Headmaster’s wife, is instrumental in driving continuous improvement of the School’s food through our ‘Food Development Programme’. At the core of this is a commitment to responsible nutrition and ensuring our children enjoy healthy, tasty, nutritious food. The Government’s Nutritional Standards for School Meals are our benchmark and Michelle’s vision is to ‘gain national recognition for the quality of food the school provides’. A significant amount of work is taking place to drive progress. One aspect of this is our recently set up SNAG (School Nutrition Action Group) made up of expert and interested parents.
We now operate a four week rolling Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer menu which has been devised with the help of a state registered nutritionist enabling parents to check what their children are eating each day and plan their own menus accordingly. Please see the links below to access the current menus for breakfast, lunch and supper. All the dishes on these menus are made on site by Julie Greatrex, our Catering Manager, and her team. Local, quality suppliers and seasonal ingredients are encouraged.
Julie meets regularly with the Food Committee (a cross section of pupils) to hear their views and enable them to have their say about the menu - a really important exchange of ideas.
The atmosphere in our dining hall is relaxed and meal times are pleasant social occasions. Pupils are encouraged to ‘try everything’ and enjoy a wide variety of foods. Conversation is encouraged and polite table manners are expected.
If you have any comments or suggestions to make about the School Food or would like to get involved please contact Michelle Northcott at the following address: headmaster@anselms.co.uk
