Form 2 Visit Sudbury Toy Museum

Form 2 visited Sudbury Hall and Museum of Childhood as part of their History topic on Toys.  We learned about toys that children played with in the past, and how they have changed to the present day. The children dressed up as story characters and enjoyed talking about Paddington Bear as he was celebrating his 50th birthday during the week of our visit.  We had to think very carefully to discover how some of the toys worked, and learned about how materials have changed the design of toys over time. What an interesting and fun day out!

Form 2 were also treated to a visit from Mrs Gaunt, a pre-prep parent, who very kindly brought in some old family toys to show the class.  The children were able to explore different mechanisms including a wind-up Mickey Mouse train and a gyroscope. They even used an old projector to look at slides in the blacked-out cupboard. The children particularly enjoyed being able to have a go at using the old construction toys and wooden games.  Thank you for a fascinating visit.
