Performing Arts Week: Monday 11 – Sunday 17 October 2010
A new initiative at S Anselm’s is the Performing Arts Week, where the pupils will enjoy new experiences of music, dance and drama.
Monday: INTERHOUSE MUSIC COMPETITION
On Monday 11 October, we have the inaugural Interhouse Music Competition at school, involving all pupils from year 3 and above. The competition takes place between 4 and 5.30 pm in the Hargreaves Hall, and parents should book their seats by emailing jon.weller@anselms.co.uk and stating how many seats they require. Please do remember that space in the Hargreaves Hall is limited and, with this being a popular, whole-school event, it is advisable to book spaces early.
All pupils in the school have been busy preparing a whole house song called ‘Pop Idol’ by Alan Simmons, who will be one of our judges.
Tick-off will take place in the Hargreaves Hall at the conclusion of the competition for all day pupils. Year 3 pupils are encouraged to stay until 5.30 if they are able, but can be picked up at the normal time if required.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: SINGING, DRAMA & DANCE WORKSHOPS
Over the course of these three days, each pupil in year 3 and above will take part in a singing workshop plus either a drama workshop or dance workshop.
On Monday, Alan Simmons will see all the pupils for a one-hour session working on ‘Pop Idol’ and other songs that he has written. His workshops have been a real favourite of our pupils in the past and we look forward to seeing him again.
On Tuesday, children in years 3 and 4 will have a drama workshop from the Babbling Vagabonds.
On Wednesday, children in years 5 and above will have a Bhangra dance workshop.
All of these workshops take place during the normal school day.
