From the Music department Part II: Practice-a-thon & Come and Sing Vivaldi Gloria

From the Music department Part II: Practice-a-thon & Come and Sing Vivaldi Gloria

PRACTICE-A-THON:   Monday 4 - Sunday 10 October 2010

Last academic year, several pupils at S Anselm's took part in the Chesterfield Music Festival, with great success.  I hope to support this event to a greater level in 2011.  Chesterfield Music Festival was relaunched last year with local funding.  This funding has not been maintained, and so, in a bid to help financially, instrumentalists and singers at S Anselm's are going to practise as much as possible over the course of a week to raise money.  It is not a compulsory venture, but any musicians who would like to take part should print out a sponsor form and practice grid from the links below.  They should collect up as many sponsors as possible, and then starting on Monday 4 October, they should either get a parent or teacher to sign a box for each 5 minute period of practice, or keep a track themselves.   At the end of the week, collect up the sponsor money and bring it into school.  It would be nice to make a large donation, as well as practising hard with ABRSM exams and Informal Concerts coming up!   Good luck and thank you for taking part!

COME AND SING VIVALDI GLORIA:   Sunday 7 November 2010

On Sunday 7 November, the Chapel Choir from S Anselm's join forces with Lady Manners School Orchestra and a 'Come and Sing' choir taken from musicians in the area for a concert at Lady Manners School.   We will rehearse the Vivaldi Gloria during the afternoon with a performance in the early evening.   If you are interested in either coming to this concert, or singing in the choir, please do drop me an email and I'll send you full details when they are available.   There will be more about this concert on posters around the school and the local area.

Please do come along.
