Great performances by Athletes in National Championships

Six athletes qualified to compete in the National IAPS Athletics Championships held on Monday 5th July at The Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. Georgy H was first to compete and she finished runner up in her heat of the 70m hurdles and in doing so qualified for the Final. She ran a tremendous race in the final against the best hurdlers in the country and finished a very creditable 7th. Freddie H was next up in the high jump and he equalled his personal best of 1.35m which earned him 4th = position, again a remarkable achievement against the best jumpers nationally. Georgy H was continuing her very busy day competing in the long jump where she jumped out of her skin but had the cruellest of results missing out on a bronze medal by only 3cm, this is still a great achievement to be ranked 4th in the Country. Edward H competed in the shot putt and threw a little below his best but still finished a very creditable 10th out of 23 competitors. The girls U11 relay squad comprising of Annabel G-P, Jess R-S, Arabella H and Georgy H were next and although running a little under par in their heat still managed to qualify for the final, where a much improved performance resulted in them gaining 7th place. This meant all of our competitors gained top ten finishes against the best athletes nationally no mean achievement. Well done to everyone!
