In the Easter holidays seven boys travelled to Aldro School in Surrey accompanied by Mr Callun,Mr Stables  & Mrs Edwards to compete in the IAPS National Chess Compettition. The leading 130 players in the country compete in different sections of varying ability.

The Championship is for the best 40 players and two of our boys competed at this very high level Isaac S scoring 5 points out of 7 to finish in 3rd position overall a tremendous achievement. Ben E scored a very creditable 3 ½ out of 7 finishing 18th again a great result.

On the first day the remaining 90 players are split into 4 sections to determine what level they will play at for the remainder of the Competition. In these group matches Hugo R scored a maximum 5 out of 5 and won his group and Paddy D scored 3 ½ out of 5 to be 2nd in his group. This resulted in Hugo & Paddy playing in Group A , Charlie L & Matthew N in Group B and Angus E in Group D. The boys all performed really well over the next two days and achieved some outstanding results
