ICT

Facilities

We have two ICT suites which are each equipped with sixteen state of the art computers for pupil use and an interactive whiteboard for teaching purposes. In addition all classrooms have computers which are networked and some have interactive whiteboards or projectors.

We have satellite broadband facilities, protected with the latest supervisory software.

All pupils in the Prep School have an individual user account and e-mail address.

We have our own internal Intranet where children are encouraged to submit work through a variety of techniques including word processing, photographs, video, sound files and podcasts.

Curriculum

All children in the Prep School have two ICT lessons in the suites every week. Year 3- 5 pupils also have an additional touch typing lesson each week.

Skills are taught covering word processing, e-mail, internet, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, web design, Logo, Publisher, PowerPoint and control technology. Children are taught to use digital cameras for photography and movie making.

Extra Curricular Activities

Extra curricular activities vary from term to term. Extras that take place in the ICT suites include Digital Photography, Computer Game Design, Scholarship Portfolio and Geography Project.

All boarders are encouraged to e-mail home regularly.

Children have access to the room in free time and have the opportunity to work on individual projects which are then entered for an ICT prize each term.

Able pupils are encouraged to enter for ICT scholarships if their senior schools offer them. Recent scholarships and exhibitions to Repton have been awarded to Sophie Y, Carla P, Charlotte T, Kieran T, Holly H, Phoebe J ,Rory P, Lydia F, Henry S, Henry F and K. Hynes.
