The boarding community were delighted to host Henrietta Heald on Sunday night. Ms Heald is a much acclaimed writer who has written extensively on William Armstrong, a 19th century industrialist who transformed manufacturing and was at the heart of the industrial revolution; inspiring innovation and invention which would be critical to the growth of the British Empire during this fascinating period of British history.

Ms Heald wowed the assembled Year 7 and 8 boys and girls as she carefully painted a picture of an inspirational yet complex figure who made a huge impact on our nation and the rest of the world despite his fairly humble beginnings. She showed video clips and took questions and so challenged our pupils to take a closer look at industrial development that began in and around Sheffield itself. Magnificent stuff! We were very grateful that she gave up her time to be with us. There is no doubt that boarding builds brains!
