Overall a splendid set of performances from all house teams for the junior house hockey tournament 2009. Despite the cold weather, the competition was certainly hot, hot, hot! A huge thank you to the house captains – Arabella S, Jessica R – S, Beth D, Arabella H. You rotated the teams brilliantly with great motivation and supportiveness. It was great to see the younger girls contributing confidently throughout each match in particular the U9 girls. The tournament not only highlighted to the umpires and spectators how competitive the girls can get in house matches but also the high standard of S. Anselm’s girl’s hockey. There were crunch matches throughout the day where the ball was being played from end to end. Today’s set of matches showed the importance of house sport at S. Anselm’s, all pupils supporting each other whether they play U11A or U9A teams. Thank you to all the parents for their continued support, encouragement and sideline entertainment with key coaching points! Another huge thank you must go to Mr Mitchell and Mrs Elvin for their expertise throughout the day. Overall a perfect finale to a busy few days of girls hockey at S. Anselm’s from the IAPS U13 and U12 hockey tournament on Friday to top class junior house matches on Saturday - Well done to all houses! MPN
