Junior Musicians' Concert in Derby Cathedral

Junior Musicians' Concert in Derby Cathedral

On Tuesday 6 July, Mr Weller, assisted by Mrs Dinnigan, Mrs Dumpleton, Mr Eaton, Mrs Pryor and Clare, took 49 musicians to perform in a concert at Derby Cathedral.

The concert included performances from the Junior Choir, Junior Guitar Ensemble, Recorder Ensemble and Brass Group.

There were also a number of solo items on recorder, cello and voice.

After the concert, the musicians had lunch on the green outside the Cathedral.  One passer-by introduced himself as an Old Anselmian from 1957.   Mr Eaton took the opportunity to introduce himself and has encouraged him to get in touch with any information that may help build up our impressive archivists collection.  It was a shame he hadn't been able to come to the concert.

After lunch, we re-boarded the coach and travelled to Queen's Park Leisure Centre in Chesterfield for a swim and waterslide session.

The children return to school in time for tick-off, exhausted, but having done the Music Department proud, once again.

My thanks go to the staff for their assistance and to all at Derby Cathedral for making us so welcome.
