5th Form Boys versus Fathers – Cricket match
Boys 123 for 8 (20 overs) lost to The Fathers 124 for 7 by 3 wickets
On a beautiful summer afternoon on Top Field a very competitive enjoyable match was played. The boys elected to bat and were soon in trouble as the prolific Tom B was well caught on the boundary by Andrew C off his fathers bowling. Michael B then dismissed Jordan W without scoring. George M and William S had a good partnership before they departed in quick succession for scores of 12 and 16 respectively. James C had a good innings and made 25. Edward H 15, Ben D not out 18 and some lusty blows from Jack P 14 and Ollie H 7 not out contributed to a competitive total of 123 from the allotted 20 overs.
The fathers innings began shakily with Gary W being dismissed for only 1 and Andrew M departing shortly afterwards for 1. Michael B was batting very well and accumulating runs nicely before falling for 28, James T made 9 and Simon P made 1 with the total only being 56 the match was evenly poised. Then a great partnership ensued between Niel S and Andrew C, with Niel’s golf swing being very effective in scoring 29. Andrew C made a good 26 and with Giles H perishing to a run out for 2, the fathers still had a little work to do, but Will H and Alessandro R saw them safely home with 5 balls to spare
