Mums Climb Snowdon!

Mums Climb Snowdon!

We set off from school in horrid weather but as soon as we reached Wales the weather cleared up and gave us hope for the following day. By early evening we had reached the Pen y Pass YHA and had sorted out our dorms. So short were the beds that Michelle had to sleep with her feet over the edge! Sleeping in close quarters and in bunk beds gave us a taster of what the boarders cope with every day! After supper we had a briefing for the day ahead and soon were all tucked up and fast asleep.

We were down at breakfast for 7.30am and by 8.20am we were on our way led by Lindsay Abbotts of First Ascent , and taking the Miners Path to the top. Although we could not see the summit, it was not raining and we soon reached the lakes before heading up the steeper track to the top. In a great time of 2 hours 20 minutes we were at the top. After a celebratory photo and a coffer in the cafe we headed back down towards the turn off for the Pyg Track. Luckily Lindsay was on the ball as Kate and Rachel had headed off down towards Crib Coch. He chased after them and together we started down the Pyg Track and were fortunate to have the clouds lift and reward us with some fantastic views. In no time at all we were at the bottom and having a well deserved cup of tea and Welsh Cakes.

Thanks for Lindsay for joining us for the day and pointing out the sites and not losing anyone! Thanks to Michelle for driving. Most of all, thanks to all the mums who took part in a most enjoyable day raising money for the Bursary Fund.

Next year’s adventure will be BEN NEVIS.

Many thanks to Siobhan Watts for organising this and to all the mothers who may have raised around £3000 for the Bursary fund.

Should you wish to sponsor one or all of the mothers please let the school know, or alternatively pop in and drop off your sponsorship money with the name of which mother it is for.

All for a good cause. Well done.
