The Nursery children have been exploring the world of Pirates. A fascination with treasure and maps prompted the Nursery Staff to capitalise on this interest and plan learning opportunities around this topic. We have a pirate ship as our role play area and we have been digging for treasure in the sand, making wanted posters, scrubbing the decks in the tuff spot and walking the plank to help our balance. To round up these activities we held a Pirates and Pancake Day and as you can see from the photos great fun was had by all. We hunted for treasure in the school gardens, tried fresh coconut to eat and drink and Mrs Wheatley made countless pancakes which we all had a go at tossing and racing with. All the children and staff entered into the spirit of the day and dressed up as dastardly pirates. The staff would like to thank all the parents who supported this day and made it such a success.
