How to enter
Competitors may enter individually or as a group via their school or music teacher.
Competitors may enter more than one class, for example if wishing to compete in graded classes at different levels or compete in both a graded class and duet class.
The entry fee for the 2018 competition has been waived, due to a generous donation.
Entry forms may be downloaded here:
Schools or music teachers wishing to co-ordinate entry for their pupils are welcome to contact Mark Percival at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Completed entry forms should be sent to:
Piano Competition, S. Anselm’s School, Stanedge Road, Bakewell, Derbyshire DE45 1DP.
On the day: information for competitors
Competitors should make their way to the School of Music (the building with the clock tower, adjacent to the main S. Anselm's car park), where they will be welcomed and registered. Please arrive 15 minutes before your class.
Refreshments will be available throughout the day and a sandwich lunch will be provided between midday and 2.00pm. Seating for waiting competitors will be available and all competitors will be called to their classes from this central point.
Warm up facilities will be available in the School of Music practice rooms on a first come, first served basis.
We encourage competitors and guests to join the audience to listen to other classes during the morning, as it is a marvellous opportunity to hear other pianists perform, listen to a range of different pieces and also to share in the excellent tips and advice shared by the adjudicators. Please note, however, that out of respect for other competitors, you should not enter a class once it has started.
Competitors who come first and second in their class(es) are invited to perform in the Finalists’ Concert at 2.00pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend the Finalists’ Concert.
The Finalists' Concert is held at 2.00pm in the S. Anselm’s Hargreaves Hall. First and second place (winners and runners up) from each class are invited to perform in the concert, where their certificates will be presented by an invited VIP.
The S. Anselm's Grade 8 Trophy will be awarded at the concert, as well as the Peter Malcolm Trophy which will be presented to the competitor who demonstrates the most exceptional talent (at any level), in their performance in the concert.
Families and guests are warmly welcome to attend the afternoon concert. The doors to the Hargreaves Hall will open to audience members at 1.45pm.
Please contact Mark Percival, Director of Music at: email@example.com
Good luck to everyone participating and we look forward
to a marvellous day of music making!
