Reading Competition

Reading Competition

A massive well done to Mrs Weatherley who organised a faultless reading competition that involved everyone in the school in the early rounds. The finals were held last night and were a fantastic exhibition of public reading and the ability of our pupils to stand up in front of a large crowd and not be phased by it all.

In these competitions it is always difficult to single out winners for they are all winners in doing what they do. This was made especially so as they all clearly enjoyed their reading and their books.

However after much deliberation, Mrs Weston selected the Junior Winners as:

1st Place Georgina T for her reading of The Pig by Roald Dahl

Runner up: Marcus K's reading of Tom's Bomb by David Hornsby.

Mr Middleton (from Shrewsbury's English Dept) selected the winners of the Senior Competition:

1st Ella N's reading of Matilda who told lies by H Beloc

Runner up: Charlie L for Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen

Well done to everyone for a smashing evening's entertainment.
