After an eventful journey to Trent, the 1st VII girls were then treated to the fact that they were playing indoors. Mrs Northcott was quietly pleased too! The 1st VII warmed up well and focussed throughout. Olivia and Arabella were scoring well in their shooting warm up and the rest of the team were moving well and sending confident passes. This super warm up certainly ensured that S. Anselm’s got off to a great start in the first quarter. Lily S was outstanding in the centre court, she was driving hard onto the ball, reading the game well and the team was confident in her when she had possession of the ball. ( So was Mrs Northcott!). Olivia C and Arabella H both shot well and accurately, the movement around the shooting circle was good and certainly got better as the quarters ticked away. Defensively, Georgina H worked tirelessly throughout the whole match. She made many tips, interceptions and broke down Trents attacking play many times. Georgina’s passing out of defence was solid and strong – well done! Again Defensively, Nancy S played the best game of the season so far as Wing defence. She played her opposing Wing attack out of the game and also ensured interceptions, she placed so much pressure on the shooters and attackers due to her tight marking and pressure on the pass into the Trent shooting circle. Once Nancy gained possession, her ball out into the centre court was phenomenal. She worked well with Lily and Chloe in bringing the ball up to Olivia and Arabella. Chloe worked once again at 100mph and for the whole match, her fitness is incredible. In at centre, she flowed the ball from defence into attack with flair and consistency. It was lovely to see Georgina, Nancy, Chloe and Lily working brilliantly using their positioning carefully in order to keep possession of the ball. At the same time, Arabella H and Olivia C were both consistent in their play and scored well under pressure against very tall defence. In the final quarter, Emma H certainly came to life. Her marking was tight and she ensured plenty of tips to breakdown the shooters circle play. Overall the performance from the whole team was impressive. Many congratulations to all, Trent were a tough side and S. Anselm’s worked hard and were rewarded at the end of the day. Thank you to Trent for hosting a great fixture with tough opposition. Thank you also to our parents for your continuous support, it was lovely to see you all. MPN
