With blue skies above us and acres of beautiful Derbyshire countryside at our feet, everybody at S. Anselm's knew this would be a smashing weekend.
Saturday got off to a fabulous start with our cricket festival played in glorious sunshine. Fourteen teams took part in what was a hugely exciting tournament but our own fortunes were rather mixed. Ollie R, Edward S, Alex W, Elliot T and Lewis H posted a magnificent sixty runs in five overs of batting in four of five games and the fielding was terrific with some direct hit run outs. Unfortunately, the bowling was well below par as we lost to Fairfield and Grace Dieu to finish with three wins and two defeats placing us ninth overall. Some cracking play was exhibited so well done to the lads!

The parents clearly had a good time as well!

Saturday night was relaxed and cosy as the houses settled down and rested after the demands of the week.

Thus refreshed, over eighty boys and girls took part in a magnificent array of activities- taking the Peak District by storm! I shall let the pictures speak for themselves!

Phew!...lunch.........

More fun..........!

All rounded up with a classic Mrs Lings interactive, jazzy and enlightening evening service!
So nobody can say that this was a slow start to term as everybody got stuck in and enjoyed the great outdoors. These kids are getting out there and testing themselves and forging friendships that are everlasting. They are such a delightful bunch and deserve every minute of fun they had today! Well done to all the boys and girls and the huge number of staff who got stuck in too!
Oh I nearly forgot... the 5th year managed over two hours of revision too!
