Sealed Knot Comes To S. Anselm's

Today, our Year 6 historians were wowed by Chris Mod, a member of the English Civil War re-enactment group - The Sealed Knot. He marched into the Hargreaves Hall armed with musket and 16ft long pike and demonstrated how to load and fire a musket and how to carry a pike into battle. The pupils held swords and wore the armour and helmets that would have been worn at the time. They were also put into ranks and shown how to fire volleys against an advancing army! All great stuff and a fabulous opportunity for hands on history within S. Anselm's itself. Chris also hopes that he will have gained some budding recruits for the Sealed Knot - despite all the gory stories he told!
