The week began wellwith the U11 Rounders team recording an emphatic 36 to 4 ½ win against Ashdellin the 1st Round of the IAPS Competition to progress to the secondround and a match against Stockport Grammar School, Nancy Smith was player ofthe match. On Wednesday, 3 senior girls rounders teams travelled to DenstoneCollege and played against some strong teams. All 3 teams returnedvictorious.The U13A team, having been soundly beaten by Denstone earlier in theseason in the JET Cup, produced a determined display and recorded a 25 ½ to 8win, this was a real team performance by everyone showing real focus and hungerto avenge the previous defeat. The U12A team go from strength to strength andnotched up another win 25 ½ to 14 ½ , with solid batting and very good fielding, the players of the match were Georgina Hinckley & Georgia Renshaw-Smith.The mixed U13/U12B managed to a good win by 24 ½ to 10 ½ with another greatteam performance with Sarah Wright being player of the match.

On Wednesday the 1stXI Cricket team recorded their first win of the season against Grace Dieu by110 runs , the highlights of this match were unbeaten centuries by Tom Bell andJames Bourn a magnificent feat for boys of their age and a very rare occurancein prep school cricket, two centuries in the same innings. A much improvedperformance and hopefully a springboard for the rest of the season. The 2ndXI continued their rich vein of form recording another win against Hill HouseUnder 12A this was a close match the winning margin being only 8 runs, WillSpeed was top scorer with the bat with 28 not out and Ben Donaldson took 3wickets. The Under 11A team continued their good start to the season beatingSmallwood Manor by 113 runs , Jack Harrison put in another fantastic all-roundperformance with 43 runs with the bat and 5 wickets. Freddie Howard also had agood innings of 38. The Under 11B team got their season off to a good start atSmallwood Manor winning by the comfortable margin of 8 wickets with Edward Salisburyand Alex Woolhouse doing well with the bat. The Under 9 team unfortunately lostto Smallwood by 26 runs but all the boys tried really hard and battled to theend, but they must work on the accuracy of their bowling and running betweenthe wickets in practices to improve further.

Once again the weatherhad a big say in the inter school sport on Saturday and all fixtures apart fromthe 1st XI match at Ranby House were cancelled. The 1stXI recorded their second win in a week with an excellent team performance.Ranby were restricted to 90-5 from their 30 overs with John B taking 3 wicketsand Ben D two wickets, but all of the other bowlers Tom B, George M, James C,Digby D and William S played their part keeping it very tight. S.Anselm’s begantheir innings poorly losing James C with the score on only 3. George M 23 andTom B 42  both batted well withhuge determination to take the team to the verge of victory. Jordan W andWilliam S then struck some lusty blows to see the team record a 7 wicket win.
