Sports Round Up – Week 4
A very busy week of sport began on Wednesday 30th September with fifty girls representing the school at hockey. Three teams travelled to Trent College and the U13 XI pulled off the shock of the day holding a strong Trent team containing many club and county players to a two all draw, with an excellent battling display. The U12 A & B teams played seven a side against Trent and came off second best losing 6-1 and 2-1 respectively, the girls all showed determination and never gave up against excellent opposition. Our U11 A & B teams travelled to Rugby School to compete in a Tournament, the ‘A’ team recorded three wins, a draw and a loss on the day and finished 3rd in the Tournament. All of the girls performed well against good opposition. The ‘B’ team recorded a win, a draw and three losses which was a fantastic performance from a young inexperienced side that always gave 100% and battled to the end in every match.
On Wednesday the boys 1st XV was due to play Westbourne but owing to illness at Westbourne they were unable to fulfill the fixture. However, they managed to send a seven a side team and with S.Anselm’s fielding three teams a very enjoyable and fun afternoon was had by all. The U9 Rugby team travelled to play at the Barlborough Hall Festival and had a very successful afternoon against some very tough opposition. They won two matches, drew one and lost one finishing second on the day.
On a blustery Saturday afternoon we had a block rugby fixture against Ranby House. A total of seventy boys represented the school, a great achievement. The 1st XV lost 35-13 in a lackluster performance against a big Ranby side. The 2nd XV played a very good match recording a 12-0 victory at Ranby, the U11A team were also successful at the same venue playing extremely well against a very strong Ranby team and running out winners 14-0. The U11B team tried their hardest but were overrun by a fantastic Ranby team and lost 55-0. The U9’s are improving with every match and ran out comfortable 35-10 winners
