Ashford 146 all out (39.4 overs) Strollers 147 for 4 (30 overs)
Ashford won the toss and chose to bat, Oh No here we go again! Were the thoughts after putting on 230 against us in the same match last year. Some very tight bowling from all the bowlers managed to restrict the scoring of the home side, Paul Dunn holding a couple of catch’s in the deep helped the Strollers plight, not to mention the retirement of Ashford’s opening batsmen with a back strain, later to be taken to hospital in an ambulance. Ashford’s inning finally came to an end in the 40th over with a caught and bowled by Charles Hunter, for a total of 146.
Strollers opening pair put on over 50 for the first wicket before the demise of Teifon Salisbury for 19, Edward Harrison on his Strollers debut scored a fast 17 with some lusty blows (can’t think where that comes from). Paul Dunn continued on past 50 to be eventually run out for 61, by now strollers were closing in on their target. Steve Drury went on to an unbeaten 22 and in the 30th over it was left to Charles Hunter to score the winning run.
