Strollers v Stanton in the Peak Won by 28 runs

S Anselm's Strollers beat Stanton in the Peak in 1st round of the Orme Shield

S Anselm’s 96-5 (12 overs)       Stanton in the Peak 68-7 (12 overs)

On a dark and very cold evening at the top of the hill at Stanton in the Peak S Anselm’s Strollers made their debut in the local knockout, The Orme Shield.Due to the conditions it was decided to reduce the game from the usual 15 8 ball overs to 12 8 ball overs per side.Having lost the toss and put into bat some powerful batting took us to 96 for 5 with great contributions from Steve Drury (40) and Mark Limb (30) on a pitch where runs were hard to come by.Unsure of how good our score was and the worsening light S Anselms opening bowlers of Jonathan Prutton, taking a wicket in his opening over, and on debut Jonathan Watt restricted Stanton to few runs. With the overs slipping away and the rate increasing Stanton struggled and Richard FitzHerbert came on to bowl, taking 4 wickets in quick order, the closest to a hat trick with the ball coming to rest on the stumps without dislodging the bails.Stanton finally finished on 68 for 7 after their 12 overs leaving S Anselm’s with a 28 run victory.

The next round is on 7th June against Grindleford @ Grindleford and Steve England has agreed to Match Manage this game, I know he will be looking to put out a strong side so please let him know your availability asap.
