Success at Megafinal Chess

On Saturday 21^st May 2011 , Isaac S and Matthew N travelled to Heanor Gate Science College to compete in Megafinal XXXI Derbyshire of the UK Chess Challenge, this is a competition which attracted an entry of 65,000 children from 1,900 schools. Isaac and Matthew qualified for Megafinal of the Boys U12 section by playing consistently well in the internal school round.

The competition was played over six rounds and Isaac secured 5 ½ points out of 6 to win the section outright and with it the title of Derbyshire Supremo and Matthew scored 4 points out of 6 (one of his losses was to Isaac) which placed him third equal. Both boys have qualified for the next round which is the Northern Gigafinal to be played at Derby University on Sunday 17^th July 2011.
