This was going to be a fabulous first Sunday back so it was a good job that Saturday night was a time to crash out, eat some pizza, pot noodles or cookies and generally chill out before the excitements of Sunday!

Mrs Lings' morning service on Sunday was very apt as she described the need to challenge ourselves and asked us what we were made of. She asked us to look beyond our bones and blood and forced us to think about our characters and our feelings and our personalities. She explained that we would be given lots of fun and exciting challenges this year - especially the boarders. It was up to us to make sure that we squeezed all we could out of every minute and she said that if we did that, we would have conquered some fears and stretched ourselves.

Naturally, we took her literally and set off to Carsington brimming with excitment and a willingness to make sure we had fun and did things we might not have done before. We kayaked, built rafts and sailed under a beautiful sky and every single pupil had a fantastic time - throwing themselves into the activities with great gusto! The children should all be very proud of themselves as they made us very proud indeed.

After the exertions out on the water, everyone was given a pound and a packed lunch and allowed some free time to wander around the Visitors' Centre, to walk around the lake and to play in the parks. All the children bonded together and old friendships were re-forged and lots of great new friendships were made too.

As if this was not enough, the Headmaster took a talented bunch off to play golf at Brailsford. The golf was outstanding and the Salisbury duo romped home as clear winners. Some fine shots were played and (mostly) everyone was pleased with their game!

That evening we all had an early night in preparation for the challenges ahead this week. It is great to get the term off to such a fine start and to see so many smiling faces!
