The lads early Sunday morning!

The girls hanging out on Sunday morning!

Down to the church.

Quicker up the hill!
What a weekend this has been! The Year 7 Bushcraft bunch headed off for what turned out to be a magical weekend getting close to nature with Mr Scothern and Miss Skipp. Mr Watt took a hardy bunch up Ben Nevis. Both groups showed grit, resolve and team work getting the very best out of their trips. Back home the fun didn't stop. Saturday night treat was fantastic and lots of cookies and pizza were munched whilst the lads and lasses crashed out in front of some films.

On Sunday morning we all woke up ready for a trip down to Bakewell church where the choir sang beautifully (especially Amelia W who delivered a moving solo). We wolfed down a cracking lunch and then Mr Donaldson took a group to the Chatsworth Horse Trials where they were wowed by a horse whisperer who rode bareback and performed various tricks. The highlight was still the bouncy castle though!

The Seddons kindly took a trip to Treak Cliff Cavern at Castleton and they had a cracking time going several hundred feet below ground. Mrs Taylor took some of the Year 8 chaps as well as Imo C and Amelia W to do some fly fishing at the Yeavely Estate near Ashbourne. They caught four fish and Amelia W was allowed to bring hers back so the kitchens can cook it - a sumptious looking rainbow trout!

The Berrys went off with some experienced riders and went trekking out into the glorious Derbyshire countryside near Edale then they raced home for warm showers, hot chocolate and marshmallows! So all in all the boys and girls were kept terrifically busy - over seven different activities took place this Sunday. They all busied themselves with letter writing that evening and Mr Weller very kindly gave a maths session to help prepare those doing CE Mental Maths next week. Supper was a marvellous roast followed by chocolate cake. Thanks to all those staff who made it possible.
Tonight some very happy but heavy heads have hit pillows (all in bed by 9pm)! Next weekend an army of over 50 Year 7 and 8's will be invading the Brailsford Wild Park paintball park amongst much else ..... watch this space!
