As expected this was a cracking weekend. The School House boys had gone bonkers with conkers on Friday night, there had been some fabulous games of girls' hockey on Saturday and Saturday Night Treat had enabled all the children to crash out and iron-out the cares from a week in the classroom.

On Sunday we bounced out of bed having had a well-earned lie-in and wolfed down a full-English breakfast. Soon afterwards we were lucky to receive a beautifully pitched service delivered by Marianne Smith, Housemistress of New House, Oundle. She told us of the importance of appreciating our surroundings and opportunities and wowed us with some magnificent pictures of past Oundle cultural trips abroad.

Soon after this we had a slap up bbq style lunch and then embarked on an array of fun trips. Mrs Taylor took a small but willing bunch for a walk in Youlgreave where they also managed to watch some cricket.

The Slieve Mor girls and Hillcrest girls went to Chatsworth with their wonderful Houseparents and they were stunned by the magnificent modern sculpture exhibition including some of Henry Moore's work.

All the girls were variously treated to hot chocolate and ice creams during the day to keep spirits high!
Meanwhile the Year 8 boys stayed on site and Mr Wood ran a super five-a-side competition in the gym followed by a swimming session.

Mr Donaldson took an elite bunch of outdoorsy types to Black Rocks where they abseiled and rock scrambled under the tuition of the Acclimbatize instructors. Watching some of these young children taking their first steps off the rocks was magnificent!

Then it was back for a terrific supper with Mr Northcott and the Berrys before welcoming the mums back from Ben Nevis....... no lack of energy at S. Anselm's then!
The children behaved impecably and squeezed every bit of fun out of the day that they could. They are a credit to their parents and the school. This was another wonderful weekend where the kids (and their mums) achieved so much! Well done to everyone and thanks to all the staff who were involved.
