Sunday 26th June

What a rip-roaring day this was from start to finish!

Helen Lings delivered a sparkling Leavers' Service and we were left in no doubt that we are ushering a fantastic Year 8 group on to a fine set of schools that are all exceptionally lucky to have them! Mrs Lings spoke of the need to treasure their memories but also forge a wholesome path in the future. Perhaps the funniest comment delivered from the leavers on stage was by Charlie L. "My favourite memories" he said, "were using well bad speaking in Mr Price's lessons innit!"

Soon after this the Year 8 pupils went into town with their precious £1 for the last time. We then had a fantastic barbeque in blistering heat. Then the Lads readied themselves for their cricket contest agains the Dads which they won convincingly - showing the Dads how it is done. The girls also triumphed against the Mums and looked tremendous with their war-paint!

Later the pupils were treated to a delightful BBQ lunch. Mr Berry was very pleased with the enthusiasm of the Y7 boys to muck in and help.

The rest of us played games and soaked up some rays in a simply gorgeous afternoon. Mrs Seddon and Mrs Price played some fun games up on the top field (with lots of water and high jinks involved) and they worked together to produce wonderful collages on the floor.

Mrs Whetherley, Miss Skipp and Mr Mace organised a competition down on the lower field. Lots of prizes were dished out and the Year 7's did a great job leading and organising their teams. That evening we had a great roast dinner and then an hour long water fight too! I shall let the pictures speak for themselves......

The Year 8 girls thoroughly enjoyed displaying their prowess to parents in the annual Mums and Dads taking on Daughters match. Mrs Brailich was a worthy umpire of the game.
