Weekend Reports

Sunday 7.03.10

This weekend definitely marked the beginning of spring and the sunshine certainly ensured that the boys and girls could make the very most of this tremendously fun filled weekend.

Saturday night treat was very well received after the rigours of the week. The juniors settled down in their houses and warmed themselves on hot chocolate and gorged themselves on chunky cookies whilst watching DVDs. The 5th year boys were treated, not only to the usual pot noodle feast, but to slabs of pizza and buckets of lemonade too!

The next morning our 7's squads and netball teams set off for Oakham where they were highly successful and some of our most able and successful pupils headed off to Oundle to take part in the General Scholarship. Meanwhile, the rest enjoyed their Sunday lie in and relaxed in eager anticipation of the day........

After some furious letter writing..........

..... the children were inspired by a gentle but extremely thoughtful service delivered by Dr Silverwood of Saint Margaret's School. Dr Silverwood spoke of the importance of motherhood and the need for us to recognise the central role mums play in society.

Soon after, the 5th years went into town and the juniors had an hour to relax before a mighty Sunday roast to feed everyone up before their afternoon activities. There were well over seven different options available and the kids just had a ball.....

Baking........

Swimming at Ponds Forge International .....

Plate painting.......

a tour of historic Eyam and then the mandatory ice-cream....

Pupils also swam in the school pool, watched "Beowulf", played widegames, did some art work, went for a walk and played in the sports hall. This was a magnificent start to the spring season and the pupils were an absolute delight! Well done to all the pupils and a HUGE thank you to the large number of staff who ensured that everything ran smoothly, was safe and great fun too! As the sun set over the valley, all the pupils knew that the weekend had been packed full of great excitement and that they had cleared their heads ready for the run up to the exeat. Well done everyone!
