Sunday 8th January

Sunday 8th January

This has been a great start to the Easter Term. The boarders have had a great deal of fun and have managed to get some rest after the busy first few days back at school. We have welcomed Henry L and Ella T into the fold and the Eatons have taken to Garden House like ducks to water. It has been great to be back and in the thick of the action.

This morning we had a very tasty and large breakfast before we had some free time. The Year 8's took their pounds into town and got back in time for a good lunch before we all got on with a myriad of activities.

Garden House and Hillcrest stayed on site. Mrs Seddon writes,

"We have had great fun playing 'beetle' in the Common Room this afternoon. A hotly contested 12 games resulted in the overall winner being Ami W despite an early lead by Georgia R. The girls played the game in excellent spirit and had great fun. The afternoon ended with a line and full house win by Emily A and Elfie respectively in another hotly contested game of bingo! Good traditional games that kept us well occupied on a cold January afternoon!"

The Berrys took a very brave bunch out to The Edge in Sheffield to do some dare-devil climbing. They reached great heights and had a good giggle dangling from twenty feet up! Mr Watt very kindly gave up his time to instruct the girls and it was good to do all this in an indoor arena whilst the wind howled outside! As you can see they all did superbly well.

Mr Mace and Mr Northcott took the School House lads off to the cinema. Mr Northcott took the younger boys to watch Puss in Boots which was a hit and Mr Mace took the 12 plus lads to watch Mission Impossible. Wow! It was a 2 1/2 hour epic that was well worth it. The popcorn and fizzy pop also went down a treat too!

The letter writing session at 5pm should ensure that mums and dads get some sort of thank you letters after the Christmas season and Mrs Lings' assembly was delivered in typical style and with a vitally important message.

All in all this was great fun and thanks to all the staff who made it possible as well as the children who were extremely well behaved too.

CHARITY BIKE RIDE / CHARITY BIKE RIDE / CHARITY BIKE RIDE / CHARITY BIKE RIDE

Next Sunday the Year 7 and 8 boys and girls are cycling the Monsal Trail from Hassop Station to raise money for the Christie a hospital in Manchester that specialises in cancer treatment. We leave Hassop Station at around 1pm and parents are very welcome to join us. Your children may be asking for donations and they may ask if you could bring their bike in next weekend. Many thanks for any support you might be able to give this venture.
