Sunday October 2nd 2011

This has been a fun filled week for the boarders and the Mace's were delighted to have the younger lads down to their's for hot choc and peanut butter cookies on Thursday.

This Sunday was a highlight. The morning consisted of sessions on the zip wire with Mr Berry, a game of softball with Mr Northcott and some touch rugby in the Sports Hall with Mr Mace.

After a hearty lunch the girls raced off to go bowling with Mrs Price and the Seddons which was terrific fun. The usual high jinks were had and they all entered into things with terrific spirit.

The boys went and built dens at Stoke Hall - the Drury family residence. The boys had a magnificent time in the woods and made some incredible structures. Monty H's group were particularly skilled but one group even created an underground burrow! We are indebted to the Drurys who were hugely generous and hospitable, giving us hot chocolate and biscuits after a hard afternoon of foraging in their forest!

After some letter writing we were given a fabulous talk from a visiting speaker about the importance of giving and the hardship of being homeless thanks to Mrs Lings. We celebrated the harvest and offered thanks for all we are so lucky to have. After the service, the kitchen staff presented a magnificent supper and many parents stayed to celebrate with their children. It was a noisey and fun affair! With the Year 8's returning this evening it will be back to work as usual tomorrow morning (though the Year 7's are off to Leeds Armoury at 9.30am - just to keep them on their  toes)!

Well done to one and all!
