The Largest Orchestra ever?

The Largest Orchestra ever?

On Thursday 10 March, Mr Weller and Mrs Pryor took 17 pupils from the Chamber Orchestra to Uppingham School for their annual Prep Schools' Orchestral Day.

The S Anselm's pupils joined forces with another 360 Prep School pupils from Leeds in Yorkshire down to Woodford Green in Essex to perform some very exciting music, prepared only on the day.

All the musicians started off by dividing into their respective instruments for a sectional rehearsal, before having lunch and them all rehearsing together.

The day was rounded off with a performance in the Memorial Hall.

The performance included the world premiere of a piece called Asteroids, as well as music from the Uppingham Big Band, a piece for the Prep Schools' Concert Band and some Handel from the Prep School Strings.

The day was incredibly enjoyable and shows the strength of music in Prep Schools across the East of the country.
