U10 S.Anselm’s vs. Hill House
Won 1 – 0
Player of the Match – Evie D

A great start to the Under 10’s season with all the girls playing in the first match. Despite the game being on astro, the team adapted well and did some good hits and blocks. The match was very evenly matched with a lot of end to end play. The Forwards of Evie D, Lily H and Imogen N ran relentlessly around the pitch forcing the ball towards our goal aswell as stopping much play towards the Hill House goal.
Laura D had a super first match as the Goal Keeper and fearlessly stopped any potential goals from happening. The defenders of Lexi and Livi BD supported Laura well and Mimi C, Imogen A and Sophie J also made good attempts at pushing the ball in the right direction. Emily H really found her feet in the second half and was an extremely valuable player in her ability to intercept play by Hill House and send powerful hits up the pitch.
The game remained goalless until the 10th minute in the second half when Evie D hit a lovely diagonal shot into the goal, sealing the win to SA.
Well played everyone! JLE
U10 S.Anselm’s vs. Ranby
Drew 3 - 3
Player of the Match – Emily H
The team was well and truly warmed up and ready for their second match of the day. Ranby were again a very evenly matched team against our girls so the play was fast and not dominated by either team.
The forwards managed to use their passing more effectively during this game and focused slightly more on their positioning rather than chasing the ball altogether. The 3 goals scored by Evie and Lily were well deserved and supported ably by Imogen N.
Laura again proved an able Goal Keeper and despite Ranby scoring 3 goals, she saved many more with her feisty tackling. The defenders did very well but do need to keep their sticks down and move more confidently forward towards the attackers rather than backing away from them.
Emily fully deserved ‘Player of the Match’ by playing exceptionally well and stopping countless hits towards the Ranby goal aswell and hitting the ball strongly for the forwards to take further.
Lots of good play learnt in this game aswell as many areas to be improved in practise sessions for further matches!
A great start to the season – keep it up girls!
