This was a titanic struggle between two evenly matched teams, with S Anselm’s coming out narrow winners. Both sides tackled with commitment and both had some fierce runners. However, both sides were guilty of wasting scoring chances through overlaps in the backs, and S Anselm’s in particular had a particular penchant for cutting back inside and only passing when all other options had disappeared. We must learn to use our eyes better and to hold our line so that support is in the right place. We also need to compete more fiercely for loose ball when it is on the ground. Tight binding and fast rucking is the answer. If we can improve in these two areas we will develop into a good team. However, this was an encouraging match and we are certainly heading in the right direction.
