This was a tough match and Birkdale flew out of the blocks in earnest. They rucked ferociously and enjoyed carrying the ball forward. We stood off a little, rucked in ones and twos and were a bit sleepy at the start. Eventually we got going but it was difficult for the boys to put passages of play together as the referee was not observing off-side and missed a few infringements. The boys battled well and create a well deserved try by Angus E. Towards the end of the game there were some nasty injuries and Ludo L’s suspected back injury led to the game being abandoned. Most importantly Ludo is now fit and well but this was a bit of an unpleasant scare for us all. It was good to see him back on the field and playing so well after his previous injury. Angus E, Hamish O, James L all played well but most improved was Henry L who made some great runs.
We have much to work on and it was good to see the boys being tested.
