U10A vs. Foremarke
Lost 22 – 18
POM – Teya S
After winning the toss, S.Anselm’s chose to field and the game commenced! It took a while to get rid of the initial nerves but once the team settled down, they began to give each other encouragement and direction with their throwing. In comparison with Foremarke’s outstanding fielding, it became obvious that there are a few areas we need to concentrate on during training sessions. The girls did get 4 players out and again there was good backing up of second post – especially for backward hits.
Our first batting innings took a pounding with our first two batters getting out immediately. However, the team rallied and did a fantastic job at taking the half time score to 8 and 7.5 in our favour. It was good to see the girls choosing their spots to hit and the excellent rounders gained by Ella N and Georgie H.
The second innings saw more forward thinking with the fielding and some great stops by Jessica RS and Arabella A, and a fantastic catch by Teya S. We did have a few fumbles and missed balls but there was also some good long throws to fourth post.
With a target of 22 to beat for our last batting innings the pressure was immediately on. The girls did very well and gained 6 half rounders through fast running and taking a calculated risk when there was mis-fielding. Teya, unfortunately was hit in the head and had to retire, but Arabella H gallantly took her batting position and subsequently hit 2 rounders.
A close and exciting game and one from which we will definitely take alot of lessons from!
